Mill Gear Box Frame

The IMT project team at MMG’s Century Zinc operations enlisted the assistance of Orana Engineering to produce a set of fabrication drawings for an existing gear box frame which required replacing.  Although the frame itself had been in operation for quite some time, there were no detailed drawings available that could be used for the construction of a replacement unit.

The design staff at Orana Engineering were able to create a detailed 3D model using photos and sketches received from the client.  This allowed our designers to produce 2D fabrication drawings which were issued to the client for approval.  This intermediate step allowed our client to not only review the drawing layout, but also to confirm that the drawings provided did in fact align with the existing installation on site. Finally, after capturing minor mark-ups from the client, “As-Built” status drawings were reissued to the client to capture accurately the detail of the existing frame.

Orana Engineering was able to deliver an efficient and cost effective solution for our client in a timely manner.  The total duration for this project was less than a week, which was only possible through prompt and concise communication with the client and Orana Engineering’s rigorous quality assurance process.
